Management experience includes managing people, projects, accounts, a clients, and/or technology. The program is designed for mid to upper level managers.
Yes, although the program prefers those with at least a diploma or a professional designation. Please speak with the Program Director to discuss your particular situation.
Tuition is $48,500 in total but is subject to Board of Governor’s approval for the 2012 school year. This includes all textbooks and materials, meals on all class days, and offsite intensive study retreats.. It does not include student fees (approximately $163/semester, which includes a 3-zone bus pass for residents of the Lower Mainland).
Tuition is payable per semester.
Aside from the offsite study retreats, accommodation is not provided as part of the program. If you require assistance finding appropriate accommodations while in Vancouver the program office will be happy to assist you.
Yes, there are limited scholarships and bursaries available for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal candidates through SFU. There also may be funding through your band, as well as corporate support and funding through organizations such as New Relationship Trust. Please contact the program office for more information.
An MBA is designed for people who are beginning their careers. An EMBA is designed for mid-career managers who have extensive experience, but now need to develop improved functional skills and a strategic perspective. The EMBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership curriculum emphasizes integrated understanding and practical application in a way that respects that other forms of knowledge and ways of knowing are also important.
Absolutely. The program is designed to allow students to continue working while completing the program.
It will give you the strategic management skills to take on new responsibilities at work, while continuing to contribute in the workplace and community during your studies, applying new theories and approaches, and doing projects on your organization.
The average student will have a minimum of 10 years of management experience. So typically their age will be reflect the amount of experience they have.
The average age class size is 25 students.
Classes are interactive and vary with lectures, cases, presentations and more. Students will be assigned to small, self-managed teams of four to five people who will work together on projects, these teams may change from course to course.. The rich business, cultural and life experience of each student adds immeasurably to the class and team experience.
