Host an Extern at your workplace this Spring

Externship Program by SFU Beedie School of Business is our newest experiential learning program that allows graduate-level business students, who do not yet have any Canadian work experience, the opportunity to pair up with industry professionals in order to immerse themselves in the local workplace culture.

As an Externship Host providing a student with a 1-week job shadowing opportunity, your benefits to participating include, but are not limited to:

  • DEVELOP YOUR MENTORSHIP SKILLS while gaining a fresh perspective on your organization
  • BUILD YOUR BRAND amongst graduate students soon to enter the workforce
  • SUPPORT EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING and help students transition to a career in Canada

Mentors in Business (MiB)

As a mentor in our MiB program, you would meet with your matched student (from BBA to graduate level) for one hour a month and attend four optional events for a total time commitment of 10-15 hours over six months, starting January 2018. For all of the details, please visit the MIB registration page. You can also see why other mentors have participated in past cohorts.

CareerTalk: Career Conversations Database

For those interested in speaking with students to provide 30-minute career conversations and informal mentoring, we have our CareerTalk program. CareerTalk connects students looking for someone willing to have an informational interview with them. As a volunteer, you could choose to chat in person, on the phone or via Skype for an informational interview, resume critique or mock interview.
