Turn academic knowledge into career opportunities
“My co-op term as the Project Manager for the Student Engagement Office gave me an opportunity to learn more about the Beedie School of Business, while expanding my personal network. It also provided me with the opportunity to learn more about different areas of concentration, that I was previously uninterested in.”
Co-operative Education (Co-op) and the Career Management Centre (CMC) allow students to obtain value-added and employment-related experience prior to entering the workforce. Co-op allows qualified students to integrate academics with relevant work experience. For many students, Co-op is also a chance to narrow their career interests and focus their studies in that direction. Moreover, students are able to network with industry professionals while gaining practical experience, additional skills and developing their strengths. CMC offers a variety of resources to ensure that students have the tools necessary to maximize their potential. The learning process is extended beyond the limits of the classroom for students to polish their job-hunting skills making them more effective, through conducting mock interviews, review sessions and personal reflections. As part of CMC, the Business Career Passport will allow students to build upon their studies with the support needed to make informed career decisions. In the ever-competitive business environment, these opportunities allow students to differentiate themselves, making them employable for the future. Why wait to decide what career choice is for you? Boost your resume, take the chance to test drive your career interests and BEConnected.
