Challenge yourself by taking part in competitions
“I am a varsity athlete and have competed for the SFU women’s wrestling team for the past three years. Being on the wrestling team has taught me a lot about teamwork, perseverance, and time management.”
The confines of the classroom can only teach students so much without applying the skills and knowledge they have acquired. SFU participates in case competitions across the globe, providing a chance for students to apply what they have learned, beyond the classroom setting, to current business problems. Students receive in-depth coaching from fellow students, alumni and faculty to represent the Beedie School of Business on how to conduct case analysis and presentations. These competitions allow students to strengthen their skill sets with respect to critical-thinking and analytical skills as well as presentation and public speaking skills. Furthermore, this common objective, towards development, among students fosters life-long friendships and connections across the globe. Along with camaraderie, competitions also encourage students to broaden their horizons. Competitions attract bright, insightful and ambitious individuals with a wide range of experiences and who are looking to make an impact. These experiences allow students to produce innovative solutions and varying perspectives facilitating opportunity to learn from one another. Finally, many of these competitions are hosted internationally thus allowing students to travel and experience culture abroad. Stimulate your mind and BEDriven to seek out self-improvement
