BeGlobal

Experience the world while you earn your degree

Going to Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi will be my first time travelling to Europe, and it will definitely be an eye opening experience. By setting foot into one of the fashion capitals of the world, I hope to learn how to speak Italian, travel, and meet other exchange students all over the world in a classroom setting.

—Michiko Araki

The Beedie School of Business recognizes the impact of educating students within a global context, developing diversity in the academic community and encouraging students to extend their learning beyond our borders. Expanding studies abroad provides students with opportunities to learn about new regions of the world and experience foreign cultures on a personal level. While studying abroad students have opportunity to travel and study simultaneously, often becoming the most memorable experience of their undergraduate degree. The Beedie School of Business provides a multitude of opportunities to study abroad, through the over forty preferred Business partnerships across the globe. These partnerships allow students to differentiate themselves by attending top ranked institutions. Moreover, international opportunities allow students to continue earning credits towards their degree while traveling. Beyond international opportunities, SFU encourages students to globalize within the confines of the classroom. By taking part in an international education students are more aware and well-prepared to compete in the ever globalized market. Do not limit yourself, think global – BEGlobal.

Expand Your Boundaries

International Exchanges SFU encourages students to study for up to two terms at an international university while paying SFU tuition and receiving SFU course units.
The Beedie School of Business has international exchanges with the following countries: Australia, China, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Mexico, United States, Chile, Russia and Spain.

Short-term Summer Exchanges

A number of SFU’s partner exchange universities offer summer school programs. Summer school programs are similar to a mini-exchange where the duration of the program ranges from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. The intensive program is directed by instructors at the host university and usually consists of 4 to 9 units of selected courses. Summer school programs usually include cultural/sight-seeing components where students visit important sights and nearby cities. Summer school programs offer the ability to earn units towards your degree while still leaving enough of the summer free for other activities.

International Field Schools

A Field School can be described as an extended field trip, group study tour, or an off-campus delivery of Simon Fraser University courses for a group of 12 - 20 students. Each Field School is directed by an SFU instructor, consisting of 9 to 12 units of selected courses delivered through coursework, assignments, and field studies beginning at a SFU campus then traveling overseas to one or more locations. Tuition, shared accommodation, basic health insurance, field excursions and, in most cases return airfare to Vancouver is included in the cost.
