International Summer School
A number of SFU’s partner exchange universities offer summer school programs. Summer school programs are similar to a mini-exchange where the duration of the program ranges from 4 weeks to 6 weeks. The intensive program is directed by instructors at the host university and usually consists of 4 to 9 units of selected courses. Summer school programs usually include cultural/sight-seeing components where students visit important sights and nearby cities. Summer school programs offer the ability to earn units towards your degree while still leaving enough of the summer free for other activities.
International Field Schools
A Field School can be described as an extended field trip, group study tour, or an off-campus delivery of Simon Fraser University courses for a group of 12 - 20 students. Each Field School is directed by an SFU instructor, consisting of 9 to 12 units of selected courses delivered through coursework, assignments, and field studies beginning at a SFU campus then traveling overseas to one or more locations. Tuition, shared accommodation, basic health insurance, field excursions and, in most cases return airfare to Vancouver is included in the cost.
