SFU Burnaby
The Beedie School of Business in Burnaby is on the distinctive main SFU campus, designed by Arthur Erickson on top of Burnaby Mountain. The central hub of the University, the community has been enhanced by the recent addition of UniverCity residences, homes and retail outlets. The Burnaby campus is conveniently serviced by public transit and is approximately half an hour's drive from Vancouver.
Named after explorer Simon Fraser, SFU opened on September 9, 1965, the main campus of Simon Fraser University opened to welcome 2,500 students atop Burnaby Mountain. Today, the University now has over 30,000 students and 100,000 alumni, more than 700 tenure-track faculty and 1,600 staff. Nestled on 430 park acres, SFU Burnaby’s campus boasts distinctive architecture based on the original design concept of Arthur Erickson and Geoffrey Massey. Along with spectacular views of the North Shore mountains, the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the lights of Vancouver, the campus has a theatre, a Museum of Archeology and Ethnology, three art galleries and the WAC Bennett library which holds over two million published books and 6,000 print subscriptions.
Over the years, the school has earned an international reputation for innovative teaching, research, athletics, and community outreach. SFU has been consistently rated at or near the top of Canada’s best comprehensive universities as reported in the annual rankings of Canadian universities in Maclean’s magazine. SFU Burnaby offers programs and courses in applied sciences, arts and social sciences, business administration, education, health sciences, science along with courses in distance education, co-operative education, continuing studies, and graduate studies.
SFU Surrey
Established in 2002, Simon Fraser University Surrey is one of three Simon Fraser University campuses. SFU Surrey offers programs and courses in applied sciences, arts and social sciences, business administration, education, mathematics, and science, as well as credit and non-credit continuing education courses and programs.
SFU's Surrey campus is a 30,000 square-metre architectural masterpiece located at Central City in Surrey. The building, designed by acclaimed architect Bing Thom, has won numerous national and international awards. Located in one of Canada's largest and fastest growing cities, SFU Surrey is adjacent to the Surrey Central SkyTrain station and transit bus loop, putting SFU Surrey students just minutes away from the resources available at SFU's Burnaby and Vancouver campuses, and connecting them to Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley communities.
The Surrey campus appeals to students who value the benefits associated with being part of a smaller supportive learning community and an intimate and friendly campus. Over 4,000 students attend classes at SFU Surrey. Professors encourage the pursuit of academic excellence through first-year cohort programs and unique programs in computing science, interactive arts and technology, mechatronic systems engineering, entrepreneurship, management and technology, mathematics operations research, criminology police studies, and world literature. The breadth of first-year programs offered at SFU Surrey allows students to begin most SFU degrees at the Surrey campus.
