SAP North America Scholarship Program – 2009-2010 Academic Year – Deadline June 1

SAP North America Scholarship Program

The SAP North America scholarship program wishes to recognize outstanding undergraduate students pursuing a degree in business, computer science, mathematics or engineering. Each academic year, SAP will award up to 15 students with a $5,000 scholarship (in local currency), intended to assist students in defraying tuition expenses for that one academic year.

SAP’s scholarship program has the following requirements:

  • 2009/2010 academic year
  • Each scholarship is $5,000 (local currency)
  • The funds are intended to assist the student in defraying tuition obligations and may not be used to cover other costs such as room and board
  • If the student’s unpaid tuition obligation is less than $5,000, the remaining amount may be carried forward to the next academic year, without the need for the student to re-qualify for that subsequent year
  • The scholarship payment will be made directly to the designated and eligible college or university and is not transferable to other academic institutions

Eligibility Requirements

The student-applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student and making satisfactory progress within a four-year undergraduate program in an eligible college or university.
  • Only students in the U.S. or Canada who are commencing their third/Junior or fourth/Senior year in the year for which the scholarship is granted are eligible to receive a scholarship.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering
  • Cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.5 (based on 4.0 scale), 4.5 (if based on a 5.0 scale) or 10.0 (if based on a 12.0 scale) for all undergraduate classes as of June 1, 2009.
  • May not have received a scholarship award under this program or from SAP previously
  • May not be a child, spouse or relative of an SAP employee
  • Must have fully completed and timely submitted all application materials

The application and all required documents must be submitted electronically no later than 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) June 1, 2009.

  • Incomplete or improperly completed materials will not be considered
  • Materials received after the 5:00pm EST deadline will not be considered

Wanna build your resume, learn new skills and meet awesome people? Then, join the Communication Student Union’s Frosh 2009 Organizing Committee!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A COMMUNICATIONS STUDENT TO APPLY! We’re accepting applications from students in ALL FACULTIES for this new event!  Deadline to apply is 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 26.

Frosh is a 2-day event held during the first Friday and Saturday of the Fall semester. The first day serves as a giant Icebreaker and team-building day that will allow the first year students to meet each other. This day is about having fun and will hopefully give them a positive start to their Communications and university life. The second day of Frosh will be about going more in-depth with what Communications is all about and what opportunities lay ahead for the first years. This day will culminate with a picnic where faculty and industry professionals can mingle with the first years and other senior Communications students. By the end of Frosh, the first years will gain a better understanding of just how awesome Communications really is!

Accounting Honors Concentration now in effect

The Accounting Concentration has Changed!

On September 1, 2009, the Faculty of Business Administration launched its Accounting Honors Concentration.

Effective September 2009 students entering Simon Fraser University wishing to study Accounting must do so through the Accounting Honors Program.  Current students (summer 09 and before) who did not declare the regular Accounting Concentration by August 31, 2009 and wish to pursue Accounting must now do so through the Accounting Honors Program.

Current SFU BBA students (admitted to SFU Business Summer 09 and before) pursuing the Accounting concentration had until August 31, 2009 to declare their intention to either:

•    complete the current Accounting Concentration, or

•    participate in the new Accounting Honors Concentration (apply here)

Students wishing to participate in the Accounting Honors Concentration must meet the new concentration entry requirements as outlined below.

Please note the requirements for both Bus 360 and 320 as prerequisites for application to the Accounting Honors concentration were waived for current account concentrators who applied before August 31, 2009.

Entry requirements for the new Accounting Honors Concentration:

Students may apply for the Accounting Honors Concentration once they have completed their Lower Division Requirements, completed at least 15 Upper Division Business credits at SFU, and either completed or enrolled in BUS 320-3 and BUS 360-4W.  Admission is on a competitive basis.  Upon completion of BUS 320-3 and BUS 360-4W with a minimum grade of C+ the admission decision will be made.

Both your cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and your GPA for all upper divison BUS and BUEC courses must be at least 3.00 (3.50 for First Class Honors) for entry into, and continuance in, the Accounting Honors program.

Only students formally admitted to the Accounting Honors Concentration will be permitted to enrol in accounting courses in the 300 and 400 levels (with the exception of BUS 320-3).

Please note, after August 31, 2009 entry into the regular Accounting Concentration will no longer be permitted.
