The SFU Accounting Student Association is pleased to announce that it will be compiling a photo book for the participants of the 2009 CA Recruit.
The photo book will consist of names of the students and headshot pictures to keep things simple, as there are over 300 students registered for this year’s recruit on the Career Network. The purpose of this booklet is to allow firms to remember students better by being able to match the names to the faces after networking, as there are usually over 100 students at each Fall Recruit Information Session.
For the sake of uniformity and equality, the pictures will be standardized, meaning that each participant would have to have their photo taken in the same background by the same camera and photographer. To facilitate this, we will have a photographer take pictures from 9 am to 7 pm this coming Thursday, September 3, in the SFU Burnaby Campus. The cost for each student who wishes to be a part of the book will be $10.
To register for this event, please email sfuasa.exec@gmail.com with your full name and times you are unavailable on September 3. We will assign time slots based on these unavailabilities. Please remember that being in this book is a privilege, not a right. Hence, it is up to the students to prioritize the photoshoot on Thursday. If you have any other concerns or questions, please email sfuasa.exec@gmail.com.

Ever thought about travelling abroad and going international but not too sure how to get started? Always heard about other students going on student exchanges, working in other countries, or volunteering out in the world, and want to experience it for yourself? SFU International, International Co-op, and Career Services will host the 2009 Think International Fair and offer you a chance to go beyond your borders.
On Monday, September 14th, 2009, discover the opportunities to go international at the Think International Fair, which will showcase many study, work and volunteer abroad exhibitors. These organizations, along with consulates and fellow SFU students who have already participated in going international, will be there to chat with you at a personal level. Other international exchange students will also be present to represent their home universities and share the experiences of their countries and schools.
In the past year, through International Co-op alone, around 160 students were hired internationally and sent across the world for their work terms. These locations, which are also available for study abroad participants, include: India, France, China, Mexico, and much more. Explore your options, and expand your horizons. As reported by a recent exchange student: “Everyone’s experience is going to be different, but without a doubt it’s going to be amazing!”
Think International Fair will take place from 10am to 3pm at the Burnaby Campus Convocation Mall on Monday, September 14th, 2009. To learn more about this large and highly anticipated annual event, visit www.sfu.ca/thinkintl. Also visit the SFU’s Online Learning Community at coopcommunity.sfu.ca to read the international experiences of other students and alumni.

Recently named one of the world’s 100 best employment sites (Weddle, 2009), Eluta is a search engine that specializes in just one thing: finding new job announcements at employers across Canada and bringing them to one handy location where you are able to search them by job title, qualification or employer. You can also set up email notification to automatically receive job postings that match your search requirements.
Neat Feature: This feature isn’t neat, it’s amazing! Eluta has detailed information on companies that have won awards under the umbrella of “Canada’s Top 100 Employers” (as featured in Maclean’s magazine) and the efforts undertaken to win those awards. Subset of the main awards are awards by geographic region (e.g. BC’s Top 50 Employers) and awards for achievements in specific focus areas including: new Canadians, Diversity, Greenest and New Grads. The New Grad review can include information on highlights for new grads, hiring locations, typical positions for new grads, typical academic backgrounds, average starting salary and number of new entry level positions last year.
