Business Writing Mentors Schedule

Posted on:

Drop-in Schedule

Each drop-in visit lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. These visits are not pre-booked. They are on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no limit to how many drop-in sessions you can attend each week. In addition to these drop-ins, you are welcome to book a 1-hour appointment each week with a mentor (these appointments are subject to mentor availability). To book an appointment, see the Appointment Sign-up Sheet outside WMX 4371.

Drop-in Schedule:

NOTE: You do not sign-up for drop-in sessions.  Just come by the mentor office (WMX 4371) when the sessions are running. If a designated appointment hour is not pre-booked or a student does not show up for an appointment, the appointment will run as a drop-in hour.

Appointment Schedule

You must pre-book your appointment by signing the form outside of WMX 4371. Since there is a high demand for appointments, you can only sign-up for one appointment each week. Sign your FIRST and LAST names on the form. If you do not put both your names on the form, your name will be crossed off and you will forfeit your appointment. Each appointment runs for a maximum of 1 hour. You can, however, go to the drop-in sessions in addition to your one appointment.

Weekly drop-in and appointment schedules are posted outside the mentoring office (WMX 4371) every Wednesday by 5pm.

Appointment Schedule:

NOTE: Only one student can sign up in each 1-hour appointment. The appointments listed above are booked on a first come, first serve basis outside of WMX 4371.

To make the best of your time with your mentor, please come prepared:

  • Bring a piece of writing and picture I.D. (e.g. student card, UPass, Driver’s Licence)
  • Have an idea in terms of what kind of help you think you need
  • If you are working on an assignment, bring a copy of your professor?s instructions for the assignment.

The Panel Interview

A panel interview involves two or more interviewers that are assessing your ‘fit’ for the position you are applying to.  When answering questions, make sure you use the ‘sprinkler technique’ where you move your gaze from the interviewer who asked the question to the next interviewer, and the next, and so on.  Your final comments should be directed back to the originator of the question.  At the end of the interview, shake hands with everyone and thank them for their time.  Send an individualized thank you letter/email to each person on the panel!
