SFU Financial Aid and Awards Opportunities – Spring 2018 Term

There are a number of opportunities available to you directly through SFU Financial Aid.  You will be applying for these via the Student Information System.

Financial Aid and Awards – Bursary Only Application Deadline – all students 

The Bursary Only Application for Spring 2018 is currently open for all new and current students (undergraduate (both domestic and international) and graduate (both domestic and international)). The deadline to apply online and submit your completed application is FridayJanuary 12th, 2018.

To apply, please log in to the Student Information System at go.sfu.ca – Then click Self-service, Student Centre, Apply for Bursaries/Work Study. Please note that students will not be assessed for Work Study during this Bursary Only period. If you applied previously during our Work-Study application period (back in November) for the Spring 2018 term, please do not apply again. Your application will automatically be reviewed for bursary funding for the Spring 2018 term. Notification on whether you will receive funding or not, will occur around the 7th week of classes.

Financial Aid and Awards – SFU Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards Application Deadline

The Undergraduate Scholarship and Award application is currently open. The application and supporting documents deadline for the Spring 2018 term is Friday January 12th, 2018Further instructions on how to provide these documents to Financial Aid and Awards will be provided to you when you submit the online application form. The online application can be found on the Student Centre, Student Information System (go.sfu.ca). Look for the Apply for Scholarships/Awards link. No late applications/documentation will be accepted.

The 2018 Service Awards application period will happen between March 19th, 2018 – April 10th, 2018. Please check out our website in the middle of March for further details.

Important reminder: Continuing students applying for scholarships are required to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 standard graded units in the term of application, to be eligible. This has been in effect since Summer 2017.

For awards and bursaries the requirement for course enrollment will remain at a minimum of 9 standard graded units in the term of application.

If you can’t find an answer to your question through our updated FA&A website, please come by and see an advisor in person, at the SFU Burnaby campus. Our office is located on the top floor of the Maggie Benston Centre (3000 level). This support is available to both undergraduate and graduate students at SFU.

Drop-in times* are available as follows:

MondayTuesday and Thursday – 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
Wednesday – 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
Friday – 10:00 am – 3:30 pm

Financial Aid and Awards provides some limited drop-in times at SFU Surrey (currently every Tuesday) and SFU Vancouver (currently every Thursday) campuses as well. Contact hours can be found here.

Our drop-in times are meant to accommodate as many students as possible. However, if you can not make it during the drop-in times listed above, please schedule an appointment.
