Volunteer for Peak Performance and Elite Case Challenge

Event: Sat July 7, 2018

Jun 10, 2018

Volunteer for Peak and Elite, Beedie’s internal case competitions!

Date & time: July 7th from 8am-5pm
Location: Burnaby Campus

If you have an interest in learning more about case competitions and have not yet participated in any of our introductory opportunities, this is a great opportunity for you to take advantage of – and it’s also a lot of fun!

We are looking for a time commitment between 8:00am and 5pm for all volunteer positions below.  Volunteers will also be asked to attend an orientation meeting at Burnaby campus for half an hour that will be arranged based on what everyone’s schedules look like during the week leading up to the event.

The positions we are requesting assistance with at both Peak and Elite are:

Registration Hosts/Hospitality Supervisors (4)
– I will need help holding down the fort where competitors, judges and volunteers all sign in.  We need to be able to keep an organized flow going as everyone registers and comes and goes throughout the competitions.

– I will also need help keeping an eye on our catering situation throughout the day with emphasis on making sure lunch runs smoothly.

Presentation Room Liaisons (10)
– These positions will be a combination of both time keeper throughout the presentations as well as hosts for our judges in your assigned rooms.  You will operate a stop watch and keep the competitors aware of their time constraints as well as keep those of us in the hospitality room aware of any needs your judges may have.

Team Liaisons (10)
– You will be responsible for escorting teams to and from their presentations – we need someone to make sure they are where they need to be when we need them to be there!

These competitions are always a ton of fun to be part of and I’m really looking forward to sharing the experiences with my volunteers again!  You will come away with a greater understanding of case competition operations and learn a lot about case analysis from watching the presentations and listening to the Q&A with the judges.  I intend for everyone to have the opportunity to watch a significant portion of the event.  If you are unable to watch the preliminary round as a Presentation Room Liaison, I will make sure you have the opportunity to watch the final round in the afternoon.  Duties may shift around in the afternoon as we work together to accommodate this intention.

To sign up as a volunteer, please email Melissa-Sue Read at mar2@sfu.ca to let her know you would like to participate as a competition volunteer.  Please let her know your preferred volunteer position(s) as well as your SFU student number and SFU email address.
