				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Do you want to create Positive Social Impact while gaining experience in Entrepreneurship? The Humanitarian International Services Group (HISG), Beedie School of Business and Social Entrepreneurship SFU (SE-SFU) are proud to bring you the third Annual Social Entrepreneurship Challenge (SEC).</p>
<p><em id="__mceDel"><br />
<strong>What is the Social Entrepreneurship Challenge (SEC)?</strong><br />
SEC is a competition consisting of teams of 3 where each team will be issued an amount of $100 that they will use as a start-up cost with the purpose to raise as much funds as they can in a period of 6 weeks while also working to generate social impact in their local communities. The winning team will have a private event with the business leader and author, Robert Murray.</em></p>
<p><strong>Where do the funds raised go?</strong><br />
All funds raised by the teams will go towards 3 HISG sponsored projects:</p>
<ul>
<li>Help women in Indonesia to get out of poverty through providing hairdressing skills training for them to start their own business</li>
<li>Help fund a solar power business for impoverished families in Kenya</li>
<li>Help an auto business in Kenya to improve their working conditions and income through the purchase of a diagnostic scan tool.</li>
</ul>

Each team must consist of 3 students with at least 1 Beedie student and there is a commitment from June 8th till July 20th. So start forming your teams and “Take a SEC to change the world!”<br />

<p>Come out to LEADER series happening at SFU Burnaby (MBC 2290) hosted by SFU Passion Foundation Club.</p>
<p>The workshop will feature a well known speaker Jennifer Ganapathy and be facilitated by Loretta Cella (Founder of Passion Foundation).</p>
<p>Jennifer is currently Lead Program Developer of Global Concerns Leadership Society, which works in conjunction with Global<br />
Concerns India to support socio-economically marginalized women to become community leaders and facilitators. She is a Political<br />
Science and Sociology graduate of Simon Fraser University, and has previously interned with the Canadian federal government and<br />
local nonprofits, working in the areas of social research, project coordination and social justice. She interned with a human rights<br />
nonprofit in India in 2010, and created the leadership dialogue program to empower low-income urban and rural women to make the<br />
social and economic changes they want to see in their lives and  their communities.</p>
<p>Loretta Cella is the Executive Director and Founder of the Passion Foundation, a charity with a mission to greatly improve the lives of girls and young women by assisting them to realize and live out their full potential. Loretta has worked with youth and families in Vancouver, Toronto, New Delhi, Kenya and Uganda over the last 11 years. Loretta has a number of innovative projects on the go including Global Sorority, a documentary featuring 100 girls in over 12 countries to be completed in 2014. She is a trained Life Coach, Child and Youth Care Counsellor, and Canadian Career Development Practitioner.</p>

<p><i>Effective September 1, 2013, the Beedie School of Business’ Concentration in Accounting will move from being the “Accounting Honours Concentration” to the “Accounting Concentration.“ </i></p>
<p><i>This change will allow students the flexibility to pursue either a “BBA &#8211; Business Major with Accounting Concentration” or a “BBA -Business Honours with Accounting Concentration.”</i></p>

- Successful completion of the Lower Division Business requirements<br />
- Completion or in-progress enrollment of BUS 320-3 and BUS 360W-4</p>
<p>Admission to the Accounting Concentration will be granted once:<br />
-A minimum grade of a &#8216;C+&#8217; is obtained in both BUS 320-3 and BUS 360W-4<br />
-A minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.70 is met.</p>

As comfortable working in front line agrarian community development as he is in the halls of power and in front of scholars. He is entertaining, gracious, affable and a deep well of knowledge on international issues related to the challenges we face as communities, and the opportunities to work together. As a result of his efforts, standing and acumen, he was named the UNESCO Co-Chair on Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. Dr. Tandon is truly one of India&#8217;s leaders on asserting human rights and community development.</p>

Enactus teams develop innovative programs that address social, environmental and economic needs in the community, in an attempt to improve the quality of life and standard of living of others. Enactus SFU is open to ALL students at Simon Fraser University.</p>
<p>This year we generated over $45,000 in economic impact and presented in Toronto for the Enactus National Exposition, where our team was recognized as the national runner-up for the Capital One Financial Education Challenge and a semi-finalist in the overall Nationals competition. Our program Media Minds and former SEY Program Manager Chantelle Buffie also received awards.</p>
