Since academic research has broadly shown that CSR impacts positively on firm financial performance, attention has now turned to understanding why organizations engage in CSR. Aguilera and colleagues put forward that firms are pressured to fulfill societal goals broader than pure profit generation as a result of their being embedded in social and national systems.
