Teaching Assistantship Opportunities
The Beedie School of Business welcomes qualified graduate and undergraduate students to apply for Teaching Assistantship (TA) or Marker positions available on a semesterly basis. TA positions generally involve assisting the instructor of a given course with conducting weekly tutorials, marking assignments and exams, and responding to student inquiries. The average required time commitment for a TA position is six to ten hours per week.
TA Application Timeline:
Please note that applications must be received online by 4:30 PM Pacific Standard Time on the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted.
TA Qualifications:
Qualifications will be based on your previous academic performance in your course of interest, previous academic performance in the subject area, breadth of knowledge and applicable experience in the subject area and English proficiency. Please note that you must be both qualified and available for the course(s) position you apply for.
How to apply:
1) Determine your availability, View Summer 2012 Schedule of Classes -The term schedule of classes will be available one day before applications open, and select your course(s) of interest. Compare your personal academic (classes and exam)/work schedule with the undergraduate course you are interested in being a TA for – ensure there are no time conflicts. Remember also to check the location of courses, keeping in mind that it takes about one hour to commute from one campus to another. Please note that you must be both qualified and available for the course(s) position (lecture/tutorial and the final exam invigilation) you apply for.
2) Complete the online TA application via the “Apply Now” link below. Cover letters and resumes must be entered into the “Resume” section of the online form.
3) If you have attended a post-secondary institute other than SFU, email your non-SFU transcripts to Ady Wong (ady_wong@sfu.ca), combined into one pdf attachment at the time of application. Please do not send SFU transcripts.
