External Case Competitions

Be Driven | We carefully select the best competitors to represent Beedie at regional, national, and international competitions. Competitors are chosen based on academic performance, competitive skills, and performance in competition training and/or internal case competitions.

There are two routes through which you may be selected to be on a case competition team. You may be drafted out of the BUS 492 Business Case Analysis course, or you may apply during the open call for applications.

Eligibility for External Case Competitions

To be eligible to compete in an external case competition, you must:

  • Be able to commit 10-15 hours a week, up to 8 months prior to the competition and be available for training workshops throughout the term (including weekends)
  • Be registered as full-time or co-op student in the term when the competition takes place
  • Have a minimum 2.67 CGPA
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have excellent presentation skills

Please note that preference is given to applicants who have completed case competition training or the Business Case Analysis (BUS 492) course.

Open Call for Applications

All applications will be reviewed by the Student Engagement Office (SEO) and the faculty team coaches. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Interviewees may be asked to give a short presentation to demonstrate their presentation and communication skills. The team coach will make the final selections based on the candidate interviews. We may select one alternate for each team. The alternate will practice with the team, but is not guaranteed to compete that year. However, alternates will be given priority for the following year’s competition selection.

If you wish to apply for multiple competitions, you must submit separate applications tailored to each competition. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
