Conference Funding

We understand how important it is for you to BE Connected, so we are pleased to offer funding to eligible students to help with the registration and travel costs of attending conferences.

We encourage you to look for opportunities in the Greater Vancouver that are organized by local professional associations and partners. We typically do not fund conferences offered by other schools, as this is an opportunity for you to engage with the business industry through professional associations.

Eligibility

To qualify for funding to attend a conference, you must be a Business Major or Business Joint Major with a minimum CGPA of 2.67. The amount to be allocated is calculated based on three criteria: conference cost, CGPA, and extracurricular involvement such as student organizations, case competitions, volunteer experience, and community service. Please note that this funding is intended for conferences only and cannot be used for case competitions.

Funding Allocation

Conferences under $150 - 75%-100% coverage ($150 max)*

$151 – $250 - 65%-90% coverage ($225 max)*

$251 – $400 - 50%-80% coverage ($320 max)*

$401 – $600 - 40%-70% coverage ($420 max)*

Over $601 – 20%-50% coverage ($500 max)*

*The funds are allocated on first-come-first-serve bases and are subject to availability.

Application

You must fill out the Conference Funding Application Form no later than 30 days prior to the start of the conference. We will notify you by email of whether or not your funding request has been approved. Please note that funding, if approved, is reimbursed to you after the conference has taken place. There are two types of conferences:

  1. Conferences pre-approved by Beedie’s Student Engagement Office (SEO). Applications for these pre–approved conferences are sent to all Business Majors and Joint Majors through the SEO email newsletter and posted to the BBA Dashboard
  2. Conferences of your choice. If you wish to attend a conference that is not already being funded by Beedie’s SEO, you are encouraged to submit a funding request for consideration.

Expense Claim Submission

If you are approved for funding, you will need to submit an expense claim package no later than 30 days after the conference in order to receive reimbursement. You must include original receipts, proof of conference registration, boarding passes, travel ticket stubs, conference schedule, and a one–page write–up of your experience to be published on the Experience Beedie blog.
