Summer Programs

Spend your summer abroad studying at one or more of our partner schools! Summer study abroad programs are a great way to experience something different from traditional exchange experiences. Summer study abroad programs:

  • Are usually shorter than a full semester, typically lasting 4-6 weeks
  • Combine academic coursework with cultural and local experiences
  • Average programs are under 10 units
  • Credits transfer back to SFU

Africa

Morocco - EMLYON Business School

Program: Casablanca Summer Session

About: In this program you will examine the fascinating spectrum of cultures and business practices in Africa and to understand how entrepreneurial skills give innovative responses to social problems and stimulate economic activity.

Dates:
1st Session: early May – early June
2nd Session: late June – late July

Credits: This program will be worth 10 ECTS credits (5 SFU units)

Asia

China – Fudan University School of Management (FDSM)

Program: Fudan University School of Management Summer School

About: This program is for students interested in business in China. Taking place Shanghai, you will gain professional skills through company trips, immerse yourself in a project-based study and build connections with peers and experts in the field. The FSDM Summer Program includes unique Design Thinking experience to advance your business strategies and learning in innovation-driven solutions.

China - Hong Kong - Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

Program: CUHK International Summer School

About: Immerse yourself in a multicultural environment and gain insights into Asian cultures and Business practices. Experience a unique learning environment on the green, spacious campus of CUHK, and enjoy the many pleasures of summer in Hong Kong – Asia’s world city.

Program: GEM Trailblazer Summer Program

Austria - Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration

Program: International Summer University WU

About: The ISUwu is an intensive short program over the course of three weeks. A team of expirienced WU and international lecturers will offer a large variety of business-related courses in English. Together with fellow students from other countries you will be able to widen your cultural horizons with the social program, where you'll have company visits, field trips and many more social activities around Vienna. Have the pleasure to experience Vienna, a city rich in history and culture and study at the largest university of economics and business in Europe.

Denmark - Copenhagen Business School (CBS)

Program: International Summer University Program

About: Join ISUP, one of the Europe’s largest and oldest summer programmes, and experience the amazing spirit of wonderful Copenhagen and exciting courses taught by brilliant faculty. Be inspired by the international environment and other participants from over 50 countries.

England - Alliance Manchester Business School

Program: European Summer Study Program

About: This exciting program spans 4 countries in five weeks. Gain a real world perspective of the make-up of the European Union and international business at large. Throughout the program you will visit international companies and see first hand the diversity of European Union business practices. This successful program has been running for nearly two decades and will help you understand the European political, economic, and social environment as well as the business activities, firms, and structures within the European Union.

The whole program is delivered over five weeks in four countries: Two weeks in the UK, with the first and last week in Manchester and a weekend in London. Between three and five days each in the Czech Republic, Spain and France.

Dates: June 10 – July 14 2018

England - University of Leeds

Program: University of Leeds - International Summer School

About: Leeds International Summer School (LISS) offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in British culture as part of an exciting four-week programme. Taking advantage of the vibrant, student friendly city of Leeds, and the rich history, culture and natural beauty of the area, the summer school combines world-class courses with local knowledge, academic-related field trips, and a wide variety of social activities.

Finland - Aalto University School of Business

Program: Summer Studies at the Mikkeli Campus

About: A unit of the School of Business operates in Mikkeli, where the Bachelor´s Program in International Business is offered entirely in English in an international environment. Mikkeli is located 230 km from Helsinki and is the largest lake district in Europe. The courses, 6 ECTS each are lectured in 3-week modules all around the year – also during the summer months.

Program: Intercultural Management: A Scandinavian Perspective

About: In today’s global world an understanding of what happens when people from different cultures meet and work together is quite essential for managers and leaders. This course focuses on comparing Scandinavian and Norwegian cultures with other cultures in the international business arena. This context will provide the backdrop for understanding and applying research on culture, communication and management. The course consists of lectures, case studies, group work and company visits, and requires active participation from the students.

Ecuador - Semester in Social Enterprise

Program: Change Lab International: Ecuador

About: Spend your summer in South America while you learn how to create sustainable, social ventures that tackle global challenges. Developed in partnership with Insight Global Education, RADIUS SFU and Impaqto Quito, this program offers SFU students the opportunity to study entrepreneurship and introductory Spanish in Quito, Ecuador in the Summer 2017 semester.

Dates: May 24th – August 15th

Program: Principles of Responsible Management

Program: Berkeley Summer Sessions, delivered by University of California, Berkeley

About: Enjoy the San Francisco Bay Area while studying at one of the world's great universities. Berkeley Summer Sessions welcomes students from all over the world. Here is a chance to experience American culture firsthand and to make friends from the US and other countries.
