The 2015 Beedie School of Business Dean’s Student Service Award has been awarded to undergraduate student Jordan Schwartz, in recognition of the extraordinary impact he has made upon the Beedie community.

Currently in his final semester at Beedie, Schwartz has extensive experience in the Business Administration Student Society (BASS), where he has held numerous roles. He joined the BASS Executive Council in 2013, where he led the strategic redesign of the BASS Mentorship Program (BMP), a four-month peer mentorship program that pairs first year students with senior students.

In 2014 he was appointed as Chair of BMP, a role that he has since continued as Senior Advisor. In these positions he has helped grow BMP into a recognized program in business student associations in universities across Canada

In addition to his involvement with BASS, Schwartz has been a Beedie Ambassador, a group of top students who represent the Beedie School of Business at high profile events and speaking engagements. He will also represent the School in his fourth international case competition in April this year at the Belgrade Business International Case Competition, hosted by the University of Belgrade, Serbia.

Schwartz was presented with the award at the Dean’s Honour Roll reception, held on March 17 at the Burnaby campus. The annual event recognizes the School’s BBA students who have achieved a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher, in addition to those students who are recognized on the President’s Honour Roll by achieving a minimum semester grade point average of 4.00.

“Our student body is the heart of the Beedie School of Business, and being selected for the Dean’s Honour Roll is a testament to not only their academic excellence, but also their engagement with the Beedie Community,” said Ali Dastmalchian, Dean of the Beedie School of Business.

“Achieving a 3.5 Cumulative GPA at the Beedie School of Business is no mean feat. We require our students to work to the peak of their abilities to earn top grades, and each of the students honoured this year has consistently cleared the bar we set.”
