Three Beedie alumni featured on BIV’s Top 40 Under 40

forty under 40A trio of Beedie School of Business alumni have been named on Business in Vancouver’s (BIV) prestigious 2016 Top 40 Under 40 list.

Janet Trpin, Alfred Wong, and John Fraser have been included in this year’s list, which highlights the best and brightest business talent in Vancouver. Each year the candidates are selected from the cream of entrepreneurs, executives and professionals in Vancouver, with each person showing excellence in business, judgement, community contribution, and leadership.

Trpin graduated from SFU in 2004 with a joint major in Business and Science, and moved on to become co-founder and CEO of real estate investment advisory organization Western Wealth Capital. She is an active speaker, author of real estate investment guide, “Real Estate Action 2.0”, and a media personality.

Management of Technology MBA alumnus Wong is director of Asia Pacific sales for clean energy hydrogen fuel cells manufacturer Ballard Power Systems. Focusing mostly in China, Wong is responsible for 40 percent of the company’s global sales, which have grown to $40 million during his tenure.

Fraser, a graduate of the Beedie Executive MBA program, is the general manager of the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club. He led the first expansion of Nat Bailey stadium, increasing the ballpark’s seating capacity and attendance by creating a catered group experience for avid baseball fans.

In addition, SFU Computer Science Phd student Maryam Sadeghi and SFU Communications alumna Almira Bardai were named on this year’s list. Sadeghi was recognized for her work as CEO and co-founder of healthcare tech organization MetaOptima Technology, while Bardai is co-founder of public relations organization Jive PR + Digital.
