SFU Business Professor David C. Thomas Awarded Academy of HR Development Book of the Year 2008

The 2008 award has been given to Dr. David C. Thomas, Professor of International Management, for his book Cross-Cultural Management: Essential Concepts, 2nd Edition. This continues Dr. Thomas’ work on cultural intelligence in the areas of international business and management. His research contributes to understanding the influence of culture on interpersonal interactions in organizational settings which has become a fundamental requirement of effective international management.

Cross-Cultural Management: Essential Concepts, 2nd Edition examines cross-cultural management issues from a predominantly psychological perspective. This book focuses on the interactions of people from different cultures in organizational settings, to understand the effect of culture in a way that can then be applied to a wide variety of cross-cultural interactions in a number of organizational contexts. it extracts key concepts on management from a cross-cultural perspective and condenses them into an accessible tool for both students and teachers alike.

The R. Wayne Pace HRD Book of the Year Award is presented by the Academy of Human Resource Development to authors of human resource development books that advance the theory and practice of the profession.
