Beedie School of Business alumnus and Dean’s External Advisory Board member Elio Luongo has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Canada.

As CEO, Luongo will provide leadership and direction for the firm’s business across Canada, working with partners and staff to drive KPMG’s strategy and growth. He was elected to the role for a five-year term beginning October 1.

After graduating from the Beedie School of Business with a BBA in Finance and Economics, Luongo has enjoyed a stellar career in corporate planning and restructuring spanning three decades.

Since joining KPMG in 1987 and becoming a partner in 1994, Luongo has held various leadership roles at the organization, including Business Unit Leader, Greater Vancouver Area (GVA); Regional Managing Partner, GVA; and most recently Canadian Managing Partner of Tax, responsible for leading over 1,000 tax professionals across Canada.

Luongo returned to the Beedie School in 2013 as Chair of the Dean’s External Advisory Board, offering expertise, guidance and direction to the dean and faculty on goal setting and strategy. His counsel has supported the school in its commitment to relevant education, research, and innovation.

He is an active member of the Vancouver and Canadian business community. He is the former Chair of the Executive Committee at the Vancouver Board of Trade; has worked with the Canadian Tax Foundation; and sat on the Tax Policy Committee with CPA Canada.
