Biography

Byungchae Jin joined the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in January 2012, after completing his PhD degree in Strategy from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He received Masters degrees from the Seoul National University and the University of Southern California, and a BBA from Sungkyunkwan University.

Professor Jin’s research interests center on how new firms, technologies and markets evolve over time, what shapes developmental paths of new technology and how firms, more broadly social actors, manage technological innovation within and across borders. His recent research projects seek to understand socio-cultural processes influencing technology development, with a specific focus on the emergence and decline of electric and hybrid vehicles in the modern automotive industry. His research papers have been published in top peer reviewed journals including the Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of International Business Studies.
