RADIUS (RADical Ideas, Useful to Society) is a social innovation lab and venture incubator based at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. In a world facing increasingly complex social challenges we are inspired by an emerging wave of entrepreneurs and innovators questioning the old rules and pushing forward new ideas about how our society might work.
As a part of this movement, we work on three key program levers to encourage the emergence of a healthy, sustainable economy:
Community and Sector Engagement
RADIUS is establishing itself as a key hub of social innovation knowledge and networks at and beyond SFU. Our staff appear as speakers at important events such as the Social Enterprise World Forum, Ashoka U, and Social Venture Institute, and actively participate in sector advisory groups and committees such as BC Partners for Social Impact and the MaRS Community Finance Solutions program; we host sold out events including the SFU Changemaker Showcase and Social Venture Failure Wakes; we appear regularly in various media outlets; and we are increasingly focused on disseminating our approach and what we learn to help build the sector.
The RADIUS Way
All our work is grounded in a shared approach. What we call the ‘RADIUS Way’ demands Humility through human-centred solution design; Rigour through lean approaches to model testing and development; and maximizing Impact above all else in identifying problems and solutions to work on.
