Program Learning Outcomes
The Beedie School of Business is an AACSB and EFMD accredited school. As part of maintaining our accreditations, we have developed learning outcomes/goals for each of our degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Each set of learning goals outlines the intended student learning outcomes and abilities for students in each program.
Recognize the need to adapt business practices to the opportunities and challenges of an evolving global environment.
Demonstrate ability to recognize and identify ethical conflicts, apply ethical reasoning and assess response options relative to the needs and interests of relevant stakeholders to address issues in a business context.
Demonstrate an understanding of law and its application to business.
Identify, evaluate, analyze, interpret and apply information to address problems and make reasoned decisions in a business context.
Communicate in a business context in a clear, concise, coherent and professional manner.
Core Business Knowledge
Apply business discipline knowledge in an integrative manner to business problems.
Disciplinary Business Knowledge
Demonstrate the understanding and ability to apply professional standards, theory, and research to address business problems within specific concentrations.
Our graduates will have the necessary communication skills to effectively interact with their stakeholders.
Our graduates will understand that business practices and decisions have implications for a broad set of stakeholders.
Our graduates will be able to employ skills and knowledge from more than one business discipline when making business decisions.
Critical Thinking and Communication for Leadership:
The ability to communicate effectively, concisely and persuasively in written and oral forms appropriate for the audience/ situation.
The ability to apply core business theory and frameworks from the disciplines to solve unfamiliar, complex problems or familiar problems in new ways.
Innovative Strategic Planning:
Achieve new and innovative forms of competitive advantage by applying core business theory and frameworks to identify opportunities and to solve unfamiliar, complex problems or familiar problems in new ways.

Statistical/ Financial Modelling:
Learn how to use advanced statistical/financial modelling software.
Statistical / Financial Analysis:
Analyze the statistical properties of financial time series.
Evaluate equity investments.
Understand and value financial derivatives.
Fixed Income Valuations:
Value fixed income instruments.
Understand legal and ethical aspects of investment and risk management.
Communicate clearly and professionally.
Gain rigorous disciplinary knowledge and ability:
All of our graduates will have the theoretical and methodological knowledge and skills necessary to engage in research that can provide the foundation for publication in top tier academic journals.
Acquire relevant interdisciplinary knowledge:
All of our graduates will have a deep, interdisciplinary understanding of at least one of the Faculty’s strategic research areas – innovation and technology; social/environmental issues; capital and risk management; globalization/emerging markets.
Develop fluent, persuasive scholarly writing skills:
