Ryan Beedie, the president of the Beedie Group and a increasingly prominent Canadian business leader, is the subject of an extensive profile in the July issue of BC Business Magazine. In February, Ryan and father Keith Beedie donated $22 million to Ryan’s alma mater—SFU Business, which was subsequently named the Beedie School of Business. The occasion marked the largest gift that Simon Fraser University has ever received. SFU will use the gift to create an endowment supporting students, professorships and research chairs. “What’s great about our donation is that it’s an investment in the future,” said Ryan Beedie. “The endowment will be there for generations to come, to give students the SFU education that I was fortunate to have had and to enable the university to attract the best teachers and researchers.” The BC Business article, written by award-winning Globe and Mail journalist Gary Mason, notes that “Ryan Beedie 
has transformed the family-owned real estate firm into a billion-
dollar behemoth.” After an impressive behind-the-scenes organizing effort in the BC Liberal Party leadership campaign, notes Mason, “many think Beedie
