BBA graduate Larisa Topalo takes BC Export Award for International Business StudiesOct 14, 2011
Larisa Topalo, who recently graduated from the Beedie School of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, has been announced as the 2011 recipient of the prestigious BC Export Award for International Business Studies. Topalo will receive a $3,000 award and trophy at the annual BC Export Awards gala held on October 28, 2011.
The Award recognizes a post secondary student who has shown leadership and excelled in international studies while contributing to the BC export community. To be eligible the individual must be attending a post secondary school in British Columbia, in their final two years of the program and be actively involved in programs that involve international studies.
Topalo, who immigrated from Moldova with her family 10 years ago, convocated with an honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an extended minor in economics. Topalo, who was recently profiled by her alma mater as part of the Experience Beedie campaign, is passionate about leadership and all things international. She completed three exchange semesters, represented Canada as a young trade ambassador in Peru, volunteered with SFU International and global youth group AIESEC and represented SFU at competitions in the Netherlands and Poland, winning scholarships and awards along the way. Most recently, she launched the Beedie Ambassadors Program to promote the school in the community.
“I’m so honoured to receive this award as I have been passionate about international opportunities for companies and individuals for a long time and it’s nice to be recognized,” said Topolo, who was Valedictorian at the Beedie School of Business October convocation. “This will allow me to continue my studies in international business and contribute more to our export community in B.C.”
