Beedie School of Business alumni Sarah Lubik and Amit Sandhu are among this year’s winners of Business in Vancouver’s Top Forty Under 40 award.

Beedie School of Business alumni Sarah Lubik and Amit Sandhu have been named among BC’s top entrepreneurs, executives and professionals in this year’s Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 awards.

The BIV Forty Under 40 each year highlights the 40 outstanding people in business under the age of 40 throughout the province. The winners will be celebrated at BIV’s annual gala Forty Under 40 awards dinner at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel on January 28, 2015.

“The Beedie School of Business is extremely proud of our two 2014 Top Forty Under 40 winners, Sarah Lubik and Amit Sandhu,” said Blaize Reich, Dean of the Beedie School of Business. “Their involvement in commercial and social ventures exemplifies Beedie’s innovation and entrepreneurship values, and they are a true credit to the School. Congratulations to them both.”

After graduating from the BBA program at the Beedie School of Business, Lubik earned an MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge. She returned to Beedie as a lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she champions new interdisciplinary programs in the field.

She is co-director of the Technology Entrepreneurship@SFU program, and was instrumental in launching the new interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship and Innovation concentration at SFU. As well, she is Marketing Director of high-tech startup Lungfish Dive Systems.

“It is an incredible honour to join this distinguished community of winners,” said Lubik. “This award speaks to the clear need and desire for innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities both within SFU and in the greater community. It also recognizes the power and potential of the passionate team of innovators, entrepreneurship and change-makers we have across the whole university.”

Sandhu is CEO of Ampri Group, a real estate development and investment group based in BC. As CEO, he has continued to expand the companies’ operations, acquiring retail, office and hotel development properties. Prior to this position, he was General Manager for Ampri Construction Limited, a division of the Ampri real estate development and investment group, a position he held before he had even entered university.

He has been named one of Richmond’s Top 30 under 30, Canada’s Top 20 under 30 Entrepreneurs, and was recognized by Volunteer Richmond with the Shining Star Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2013. In 2012, he became the youngest businessperson ever appointed by Richmond City Council to the City’s Economic Advisory Committee.

“Since leaving SFU, I have been fortunate to work with a multitude of diverse teams to accomplish great things through business ventures and social initiatives,” says Sandhu. “This award serves as a testament to the fantastic collaborations that I have experienced. I look forward to continuing this fulfilling journey of building my career and building stronger communities.”
