Beedie School of Business undergraduate student Jessica Gutierrez has been honoured with the 2014 Dean’s Student Service Award for her exceptional contribution to the Beedie community through extra-curricular participation in student initiatives.

The award was presented to Gutierrez at the Dean’s Honour Roll reception, held on March 12 at the Burnaby campus. The event welcomed more than 200 students, staff and distinguished guests to honour the near 500 Beedie undergraduate students who had qualified for the 2014 Dean’s Honour Roll.

Gutierrez’s Beedie experience has seen her fill the positions of President, Vice President of Human Resources, and Manager of Corporate Relations with the Business Administration Student Society (BASS), the student-run organization that connects the 3800 students within the Beedie undergraduate program.

In addition, Gutierrez has completed two Co-operative Education work terms focusing on community engagement and learning & development. She is passionate about pursuing her personal and professional development by seeking enriching experiences within the Beedie and Vancouver business community.

“At the Beedie School of Business, opportunities and resources are so accessible thanks to the staff and faculty who are committed to our success,” says Gutierrez. “I feel so fortunate to have encouraging friends and family, as well as an incredible network of people who have supported my journey here. I have been inspired by my peers and past winners of this award and feel honoured to be this year’s recipient.”

To qualify for the Deans Honour Roll, students must maintain a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher in each of the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters, have successfully completed 30 units at SFU, and have completed a minimum of 12 units in the honour roll semester.
