Beedie School of Business alumnus Manny Padda has been named one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40 for 2015.

Beedie School of Business alumni Manny Padda and Raman Randhawa have been ranked among B.C.’s top entrepreneurs, executives and professionals in the 2015 Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 awards.

Now in its 25th year, the BIV Forty Under 40 each year highlights the achievements of B.C.’s young entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals. Winners, born after 1975, have demonstrated excellence in business, judgment, leadership, and community contribution.

“The Beedie School of Business has a long and distinguished history of producing outstanding business men and women, and we are delighted that two of our exceptional graduates have again been recognized among B.C.’s finest,” says Blaize Horner Reich, dean of the Beedie School of Business.

“Manny is an exemplary entrepreneur and educator, whose vision and hard work have created hundreds of jobs within B.C., while Raman has a demonstrated record of leadership within one of the province’s most prominent resource companies. They are both truly deserving of this honour.”

Padda is founder of New Avenue Capital (NAC), a global investment firm with interests in venture capital, private lending and real estate, recruitment, and philanthropy. Valued at more than $30 million, NAC has more than 50 investments in 12 countries. Its venture capital pillar has invested more than $1 million in B.C. start-ups in 2015.

His dedication to philanthropy sees Padda sit on a number of advisory boards in the education, not-for-profit, and social venture sectors, including Social Venture Partners, SOAR Philanthropic Society, Global Agents for Change, Change Heroes, and Room to Read. As well, he has raised funds for organizations such as BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Covenant House Vancouver.

Padda graduated with honours from the Beedie School of Business BBA program, where he majored in HR, marketing, and finance. Since graduating he has remained engaged with the Beedie community, teaching several entrepreneurship classes at both undergraduate and graduate level, and participating in Beedie initiatives such as the Speakers on Campus program.

“I am honoured to join the exceptional men and women who have received this award before me,” says Padda. “Throughout my career I have strived to ensure that my success – whether as an entrepreneur, a mentor, or a philanthropist – benefits others. This award serves as recognition not only of my success, but of that of all those with whom I have worked.”

Randhawa is Vice President, Operations, Finance at Goldcorp, where he has held a series of leadership roles since joining in 2005. A Chartered Accountant with over ten years’ experience in the mining industry, he has also worked at the international firm of Ernst & Young. He graduated from the BBA program at the Beedie School of Business, where he majored in finance and accounting.

This year’s BIV Forty Under 40 winners will be celebrated at BIV’s annual gala Forty Under 40 awards dinner at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel on January 27, 2016.
