The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for one tenure-track position in Business and Society, starting on July 1, 2025. The position is open at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will engage in high-quality, impactful research in the area of business & society and have demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of Business & Society with an emphasis on courses in Business Sustainability and/or Indigenous Business. Additionally, they should exhibit the potential for growth as a scholar and a willingness to actively contribute to the University. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in management or a related field with high research alignment by the employment start date. However, PhD candidates with solid indications of imminent completion may be hired at the rank of Instructor, with a promotion to Assistant Professor upon completing the PhD.

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position are expected to have a strong record of scholarly output as well as strong future research potential.  In line with SFU Faculty Association / SFU Collective Agreement, this includes diverse forms of scholarship such as publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, Indigenous or other non-Western forms of scholarship, engaged scholarship, and public dissemination of scholarly work.

Additionally, the candidate should have the experience or the aptitude to contribute to Beedie’s teaching excellence in the area of business sustainability and/or Indigenous business.  The courses in our area adopt a broad, systemic view of sustainability that includes learning objectives related to systems thinking, lifecycle thinking, human rights, worker wellbeing, community resilience, embedding sustainability, credible goal setting and disclosure, sustainable value chains, and change agency. The Business and Society area is also committed to honouring both Indigenous and Western worldviews in our courses.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to faculty and university governance; to their profession; to the development of their discipline nationally, internationally or locally; and to the furthering of good relations between the University and local communities.

Duties

As SFU is a leading research university, successful candidates are expected to contribute to Beedie’s research excellence. The candidate will also be expected to teach courses in sustainability such as our foundational undergraduate course Business in a Sustainable Society, senior level undergraduate courses in Beedie’s Corporate Environmental and Social Sustainability Certificate, and courses in sustainability and/or Indigenous business at the graduate level in our MBA programs. In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in Beedie’s collegial self-governance and offer support and guidance to students, peers, and the academic community through activities such as committee work, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities, which could include acting as a faculty sponsor for our Gold status NetImpact chapter.

Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for the Assistant Professor rank is $174,700 - $184,700, dependent on experience and inclusive of a market differential. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for a successful candidate starting at the Instructor rank is $168,340 - $174,700.

The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for one teaching faculty in the Business and Society area, starting on July 1, 2025. This position is at the rank of Lecturer.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching potential through expertise, effort, and enthusiasm at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in business and society, including business sustainability. Teaching experience at an AACSB or EQUIS accredited Business School and applied work experience in a business environment or a community organization is an asset. The successful candidate must have an ability to engage diverse learners in the classroom using innovative pedagogies and teaching practices informed by the latest research. Teaching experience and values consistent with Beedie’s vision and strategic priorities of innovation, social responsibility, and a global perspective will be prioritized. The successful candidate must have a PhD (or near completion) in management or a related field, with a strong alignment with the area of business and society or business sustainability by the employment start date.

Duties

A lecturer is expected to teach 8 course sections per year in the area of Business and Society, including business sustainability. The courses in this area seek to address a range of learning objectives, such as systems thinking, socio- and ecological resilience, life cycle thinking, corporate sustainability performance, sustainable supply chains, and change agency. The area is also committed to honouring both Indigenous and Western worldviews in its courses. SFU operates on a trimester system and a lecturer is expected to teach during all three terms: Fall, Spring, and Summer.

A lecturer will have responsibility for the preparation and instruction of a wide range of undergraduate and graduate level courses, and may be called upon to provide leadership in curriculum development. A lecturer is also expected to actively participate in Beedie’s collegial self-governance structure and offer support and guidance to students, peers, and the academic community through activities such as committee work, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities. This may include serving as a faculty sponsor for our Gold status NetImpact chapter.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level, excel at teaching innovation and entrepreneurship courses with experiential pedagogies to a diverse student body, and exhibit leadership abilities. Experience teaching innovation and/or entrepreneurship courses at an AACSB/EQUIS accredited Business School is preferred. Teaching experience consistent with Beedie School of Business’ Vision 2022 strategic priorities of innovation, social responsibility, and global perspective will be prioritized. Applicants should have a graduate degree in either Business Administration, innovation, entrepreneurship, or related fields. Preference will be given to those with a doctoral degree, pedagogical research experience, experience coaching and providing feedback to students and student ventures in academic and/or co-curricular settings, and related industry experience or community/industry engagement experience.

The candidate must also be engaging and enjoy the classroom experience of teaching young minds how to think.

Duties

A lecturer is expected to teach 8 course sections per year in diverse areas of marketing, likely at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We offer students a comprehensive set of electives, and look forward to the creation of new courses which span a wider range of applied topics and expertise in multiple subfields of marketing. Teaching faculty members are expected to contribute to Beedie’s teaching excellence, actively participate in Beedie’s collegial self-governance structure and offer assistance and guidance to students, peers and the academic community through activities such as committee work, mentorship and experiential learning opportunities.

The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for one tenure-track position in Accounting, starting on July 1, 2025. The position is open at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Accounting and be able to demonstrate research excellence through high-quality publications. They should guide research efforts in their areas of expertise, aligning with Beedie’s strategic priorities of innovation, social responsibility, and a global perspective. Additionally, the candidate should have experience or the aptitude to contribute to Beedie’s teaching excellence through teaching financial accounting, managerial accounting, and/or auditing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to engage with communities of practice and make an impact through their research. A professional accounting designation, along with experience teaching data analytics, would be an asset for this position.

Qualifications for Assistant Professor

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position are expected to have a strong publication record in reputable journals or demonstrate a robust pipeline of peer-reviewed papers under review. Additionally, they should exhibit clear evidence of being an effective teacher, the potential for growth as a scholar, and a willingness to actively contribute to the University. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Accounting by the employment start date. However, PhD candidates with solid indications of imminent completion may be hired at the rank of Instructor, with a promotion to Assistant Professor upon completing the PhD.

Qualifications for Associate Professor

Candidates for the Associate Professor position should have an established track record of excellence in research and scholarship. The successful candidate is expected to have developed a clear program of research and be able to show prospects for future and ongoing contributions to the literature in their field. With regard to teaching, the candidate should have demonstrated ongoing development of instructional effectiveness across a range of Accounting courses and made significant teaching-related contributions. A record of active engagement and leadership role in university and community service is also required.

Duties

The candidate will be expected to teach courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, or auditing at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Qualifications for Assistant Professor
