CPA Innovation Centre

Welcome to the CPA Innovation Centre, located within the Segal Graduate School of Business at Simon Fraser University.

The Centre’s mission is to facilitate and support high quality research on innovation studies that will be internationally recognized for its interest and value to practitioners, policy makers and scholars.

Innovation is both a process and an output. The innovation process produces outputs that are innovative as they are new to the organization, the industry, the country or the world. These innovative outputs can be new products, new services, new technologies, new business models and new ways of working.

The CPA Innovation Centre (CPA IC) promotes and supports interdisciplinary scholarship on the processes and management of innovation.

Topics of interest include:

  • New product development
  • Open and user innovation
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Genesis and evolution of new industries, new organizations and new technologies
  • Adoption and diffusion of technologies
  • Management of R&D and science
  • Management of knowledge and intellectual property
  • Processes of organizational learning and change
  • Networks and industrial clusters
  • Innovation and sustainability
  • Innovation policy

The Centre’s mission is to facilitate and support high quality research on innovation studies that will be internationally recognized for its interest and value to practitioners, policy makers and scholars.

This mission revolves around three core objectives and related activities:

  1. To help establish collaborative research initiatives that will produce and synthesize knowledge on the processes and management of innovation.
  2. To disseminate new knowledge and augment existing knowledge by hosting and organizing events (e.g., seminars, workshops and conferences) for researchers and practitioners concerned with innovation studies
  3. To build and support a community of people from academia, industry and government who are concerned with the processes and management of innovation.

The Centre’s mission, objectives and activities are also intended to produce outputs that will:

  • Contribute to the Beedie School’s strategic focus on “Knowledge, Innovation and Technology”
  • Help CPA Canada to maintain its vision of being the leading professional designation for accountants in management.
