Your First Year Beedie Experience: Business Foundation Program (BFP)

Be Challenged | All incoming Beedie students start their first term in the Business Foundation Program (BFP).

BFP combines foundational business theories and principles with experiential learning to equip you for your future.

BUS 201: Newly Admitted High School Students

Newly admitted high school students enter the Business Foundation Program via BUS 201-3: Introduction to Business at the campus indicated on your SFU offer of admission. See below for instructions on how to enroll in BUS 201.

BUS 201 introduces students to core business principles in a supported, integrated teaching environment. Through weekly lectures and seminars, you will learn applied business skills, explore co-curricular activities, and work on an applied business project.

BUS 202: Newly Admitted Transfer Students

Bus 202

Newly admitted students who have transferred from other colleges/universities or from other SFU faculties enter the Business Foundation Program via BUS 202-3: Foundations of Collaborative Work Environments. See below for instructions on how to enroll in BUS 202.

BUS 202 equips students with foundational business principles with a focus on team-based environments. Through weekly lectures and seminars, you will develop effective business communication and collaboration skills and implement that knowledge in an applied business project.

How to Enroll

All students who are newly admitted to the Beedie School of Business must enroll in their respective course in their first term at Beedie:

  • BUS 201* for high school admits
  • BUS 202 for transfer students

*Note: You must enroll in BUS 201 at the campus to which you were offered admission. For instance, if your SFU Offer of Admission letter indicates Surrey as the location of your program, you must enroll in BUS 201 at the Surrey campus. You can also view your admitted campus location by logging on to SFU’s Student Information System (goSFU) and referring to the Admissions section at the bottom of the Student Services Centre homepage. You may request to take the course at a different campus by submitting an Academic Program Change Request to SFU Student Services prior to the program change deadline for your admission term.

At your assigned enrollment date and time, simply log on to SFU's online Student Information System (goSFU) to enroll in your appropriate BFP lecture and associated seminar.

BUS 202 is currently only available at the Burnaby campus.
