Courses

BUS 490 – Social Entrepreneurship

This 3-unit course begins with three-day intensive online sessions and will continue online while students are in Quito. All instruction will be in English. This course can be applied towards the Innovation and Entrepreneurship concentration or certificate.

SPAN 1XX – Introductory Spanish for Non-Native Speakers

This 3-unit course will be taught at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and will focus on introductory Spanish training. The USFQ Spanish course will be held for 4 hours per week, with an 8-hour intensive during the first week upon arrival to Ecuador.

VANCOUVER - PRIOR TO DEPARTURE

To prepare you for this program a pre-departure session will be delivered in online or in person, by the Beedie School of Business and Insight Global Education, preparing you with a jump start in social entrepreneurship and a theoretical framework to base your projects during your time in Ecuador. The course continues online and will provide relevant information and support to the students throughout the semester.

ECUADOR

During your time in Quito, you will be working out of Impaqto Quito, Ecuador’s leading enterprise accelerator, providing consulting experience to local Entrepreneurs.

VANCOUVER - UPON RETURN

Upon return to Vancouver, online or in person debrief sessions will take place with local entrepreneurs.

Eligibility and Application

  1. This program is open to students from all faculties
  2. At minimum, students must have completed 36 units (credits), and be in good academic standing to participate in the program. Departmental approval is also required.
  3. Students must submit an application online- application deadline is February 28, 2018.
  4. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview
