Ready to take
things up a level?

EMBA

Executive Master of Business Administration

SFU Beedie’s Executive MBA (EMBA) program is for senior professionals ready to take it to the next level. Whether you’re on the way up, or you’re already there, the EMBA will keep you razor sharp and competitive. It can also qualify you for a better position in your current career, or help you transition into a new one.

If you already have extensive leadership experience, an EMBA will help unlock your full capabilities, decision-making confidence, and strategic know-how.

Who it’s for

The Executive MBA is designed for senior managers and professionals, as well as emerging business leaders.

While our curriculum moves quickly, the program is intended to be manageable for someone who is also working a demanding full-time job. Our flexible format ensures you can maintain the equilibrium between life, work and enhancing your career.

What you’ll learn

SFU Beedie’s EMBA program will give you the confidence and ability to drive a business strategically at the senior management level. You’ll gain new insights and frameworks for thinking, analyzing, strategizing and leading. You’ll improve your communication, presentation and negotiation skills.

You can take what you learn on the weekend, and start using it at work on Monday

The Americas MBA for Executives is an optional stream in Year 2 that gives you the opportunity to study relevant management issues with MBA students from educational institutions in the four largest economies in the Americas: Canada, Brazil, Mexico and the USA.

Where it can take you

SFU Beedie’s Executive MBA program provides outstanding leadership training and a well-recognized and respected degree, together with membership in a whole new network of 1,500 alumni. Your investment in the EMBA gives you invaluable returns and success in the next stage of your career.

Employers benefit too

More than 75% of our students receive sponsorship in some form from their employers. It makes good business sense. The program is not training designed to overcome a short-term problem or provide a quick fix solution; it’s an investment in the future.

  • High performers obtain cross-functional knowledge that enables them to excel in their current role and move into their next
  • Employers receive the benefit of a loyal, highly trained employee equipped with knowledge of new management techniques and strategies

Intense yet manageable, the SFU Beedie EMBA is delivered in a part-time format over the course of 20 months, which means you don’t need to step away from your leadership duties.

  • 20 months part-time
  • Friday and Saturday full day classes on alternate weekends
  • September start date
  • Begins with a mandatory retreat in Whistler
Tuition

$63,177* (includes all course materials, off-site orientation and workshops)

Student fees per year (health insurance, transit pass, recreational/athletic facility pass): approximately $2,997.

Students who take the optional Americas EMBA for Executives program during Year 2 can expect additional costs for transportation, food and accommodation when visiting the partnering schools (approx. $8,000).

For information on funding opportunities, visit Fund Your Degree. Employer sponsorship is also an option; to learn more, visit Benefits to your company.

We’re here to help you get the most from your EMBA, providing you with resources, workshops, career counselling and coaching.

With a dedicated career advisor, countless networking opportunities and invaluable resources, you’ll get all the support you need to level up.

Workshops and career coaching

How can you position your strengths relative to your career objectives? How should you fine-tune your CV? How can you better negotiate your salary? Get it all working for you in EMBA workshops.

We’ll also assign you a career coach whose specialty is working with executives on planning internal and external career changes. Our one-on-one executive coaching during your second year will help you hone your leadership voice, navigate internal politics and elevate your executive presence.

Mentorship and networking

Here you’ll have the opportunity to expand your network 360 degrees. SFU Beedie is home to the largest business mentorship program in Western Canada, with more than 300 mentor/mentee pairs each year. Tap into their network and expand your own.

Entrepreneurship opportunities

If entrepreneurship is your calling, you’ll find countless opportunities to think—and act—like a founder through programs like these:

• RADIUS: Interested in pushing forward new ideas about how our society might work? RADIUS (RADical Ideas, Useful to Society) is a social innovation lab and venture incubator based at SFU Beedie School of Business that provides opportunities for you to engage with local social innovation projects while using your skills to benefit society as a whole.

• Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection: If you have a great idea, Venture Connection could help you turn it into a viable venture. Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection is an SFU-wide program that trains future leaders and innovators, giving them the tools and training to build entrepreneurial skills and turn great ideas into viable ventures.

At the heart of downtown Vancouver is SFU Beedie’s Segal Graduate School campus, a heritage bank reimagined as a 60,000 square-foot landmark housing classrooms, meeting rooms and study spaces.

It’s centrally located with easy access to public transit, which makes getting to and from class exceptionally convenient.

Plus, you’re surrounded by cafes, shops and restaurants. It’s a neighbourhood as vibrant as any.

My key lessons from the program were learning how to effectively frame and structure a problem or situation, manage a tight schedule, know what to prioritize and how to prioritize it, and identify core problems quickly and addressing them.

The Part-Time MBA was excellent. It gave me exactly what I expected to receive, and I think that is the highest compliment you can pay a program. It met all my expectations and provided a solid grounding in business skills and strategies.

The i2I program is perfect for people like me who are deeply involved in science, and who want to look for opportunities in the business world. A program like this opens your mind and teaches you that there is another world of possibilities outside of the lab.

The learners I work with are 95% Indigenous, and I find that they become more interested and retain information more, when we speak and learn from an Indigenous lens. The Indigenous content integrated into the program has been very beneficial to me in terms of how I can incorporate Indigenous information into the curriculum I currently teach.
