The WBCSD is a CEO-led, global association of some 200 international corporations committed to providing business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development. It provides a platform for companies to explore sustainable development, share knowledge and best practices, and advocate business positions in a world increasingly shaped by sustainable development issues.
Bjorn Stigson has served as President of WBCSD since 1995. He is a member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development and Co-Chaired the Council’s Task Force on Pathways to a Low Carbon Economy for China. He is also currently a member of the following boards/advisory councils: Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation; Energy Business Council of the International Energy Agency; America’s Climate Choices Initiative of the US Congress; the Veolia Sustainable Development Advisory Committee; and the Siemens Sustainability Advisory Board.
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), consisting of senior Chinese and international experts, advises the Government of China on policy related to the environment and sustainable development. Since 1992, SFU has administered CIDA’s support for the Council and has provided the Council’s International Secretariat serving the Council as a whole.
