Why did you decide to pursue an MBA and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?

I was at a crossroad in my career. The company I was managing in Colombia had slowed down its growth. Although I had good strategies and new ideas, I wasn’t able to convince headquarters to increase the investment and adopt my plans. That’s why I chose to study an MBA at SFU’s Beedie School of Business hoping to achieve breakthroughs in my career. On one hand, SFU is a worldwide recognized institution. On the other hand, it provides many co-curricular activities which help students improve their soft skills.

What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

I am very impressed that SFU’s MBA program is composed by a mix group of students from all over the world. As nowadays the workplace is getting more culturally diverse, it is important that an MBA program teaches you not only the technical skills, but also how to work with people with different cultural background.

How would you describe SFU Beedie’s culture?

SFU Beedie’s culture is very down-to-earth. Despite being one of the best institutions in Vancouver, SFU Beedie’s faculty and staffs have made them as available as they can to students. Professors open many office hours to answer questions from students. These supports definitely help students to adapt to a new environment and improve their knowledge.
