Why did you decide to pursue a Master of Science in Finance and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?

The importance of financial management in our lives has always been paramount, but after experiencing this unanticipated and devastating pandemic, there is no doubt that the outlook of people has radically changed towards the financial markets and its implication on our lives. A well-built understanding of the finance sector, both in theory and practice and unparalleled learning and growth opportunities offered by SFU Beedie with platforms like SIAS, Case competitions, and Career Management Centre support sessions drew me to this beautiful city and this prestigious institution.

What has been your favourite moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?

It has been a month since I have moved to Vancouver and the program has been challenging with respect to time management, but the challenge is what makes you ready for the world. Attending our very first SIAS meeting and getting to experience that environment in person is an unreal experience. The efforts and dedication put in by the previous cohort was extremely inspiring and insightful. So far, getting to know more about SIAS and experiencing this environment in person has been my favourite experience at Beedie.

How would you describe SFU Beedie’s culture?

SFU Beedie has a warm, welcoming vibe and an extremely proactive environment. The challenges experienced here as a student, pave the way to becoming a well-groomed industry professional in the dynamic financial industry. Many engagement and networking opportunities are also provided here to students. These opportunities are something that will stick with me throughout my professional life.
