Biography

After almost 30 years as a corporate financial analyst, accountant and continuing education instructor, Derek Yee gave up early retirement and a garage full of woodworking tools to join SFU Business as a finance and accounting instructor. Five years later, in 2005, he received a Canada Trust Excellence in Teaching award. "I view the award as a reflection of how much support I have received from other faculty members who've given me advice on how to teach," says Derek, who has a PhD in physical chemistry and a Master's in finance. He also holds professional designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
