Biography

Lorne R. Segal is President of Kingswood Properties Ltd. and an active community member. He is a Director of the Vancouver Board of Trade.

Mr. Segal has traveled extensively in Europe. He attended the University of Oxford in England. A highlight of Mr. Segal’s career was the development of the prestigious Vancouver condominium tower – the Kingswood Shaughnessy complex – a concept that ‘incubated’ for 20 years. His credits include residential, retail and industrial projects in Greater Vancouver and other parts of B.C.

Lorne Segal, son of leading philanthropists Drs. Joseph and Rosalie Segal, is continuing in the strong family tradition of giving back to his community.

Mr. Segal is Chair, The Courage To Come Back Campaign, Coast Mental Health Foundation. Mr. Segal’s leadership promotes the growth of this premiere provincial event that recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the quiet courage needed to overcome the insurmountable. “The Courage To Come Back is a truly memorable event that allows us to experience a deep humanity so often overlooked in our daily lives. All who attend are deeply inspired. It is a great honour for me to serve as Chair of this distinguished event and to celebrate the ‘heroes next door’ in our province.”

Lorne Segal is also a member of the Tetra Society of North America dedicated to assisting people with disabilities to achieve an independent and fulfilling life in the community. He lives in Vancouver with his wife, Mélita, and their two children
