Biography

Born in the UK, educated in the UK, Kenya and Canada, Robert has over 40 years of labour relations, human resource management and organizatinal behaviour experience, primarily in the public sector. Robert started his career in healthcare labour relations, subsequently spending over 15 years in consulting practice, and these past 7 years, has been the Executive Director of Human Resources with New Westminster Schools. An SFU alumnus, he has maintained a close connection to the university having served on the Alumni board of directors for 7 years, serving as President from 2016-2018. Robert has also served on the SFU Presidential Search Commitee and the Excellence in Teaching Committee, serving as chair from 2018 to 2021.

In addition to his Executive Director work, he is a sessional at the Beedie School and is completing his doctorate at the Univeristy of Leicester (UK) in labour market studies. Robert has lived in the Lower Mainland since coming to SFU as a student in 1974. Two of his children are SFU Alumni, including a son who recently convocated with a PHd. in English.
