Are you ready for the most definitive Canadian program for increasing your impact as a Board Director? The Directors Education Program, jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, helps experienced directors like you build on your expertise, fine-tune your skills for around the boardroom table, and strengthen your capacity to create and protect value for organizations. You can expect an interactive 12‐day program of roundtable discussions, real‐time case studies and on‐point insights from leading governance experts. Taught in four three-day modules over the course of one year, you’ll build an extended network of leading directors who are bringing better governance to Canada and its communities.

The Not-For-Profit Governance Essentials Program, jointly developed by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, is a two-day intensive program focused on key accountabilities and responsibilities for NFP leaders. You will learn best practice in governance, build group decision-making skills, apply change management principles, and understand your fiduciary duty, all through team-based learning.

Program Details

The Indigenous Leadership Development Program, formerly known as June in Vancouver (JiV), provides professional development opportunities for Indigenous leaders and those working in the area of Indigenous affairs. This program is based on the best available research and offered in partnership with the Native Nations Institute (NNI) at the University of Arizona. If you complete six courses in either program, you are eligible for a non-credit certificate from the Native Nations Institute.

Invention to Innovation (i2I) is a unique and rewarding curriculum that will help you change your mindset. The program helps scientists and engineers understand how to take their ideas from lab to market. You will be equipped with the theory, frameworks and skills to commercialize your inventions, become an innovation champion in industry or increase knowledge mobilization through translational science.

Reimagining Your Business Model is a non-credit online experience that is designed to support small businesses, with a particular focus on those that have been hit hard by COVID-19. Participants will learn about innovation and business models so that they can consider how to adapt to threats and opportunities arising from our changing environment.

Program Details

In collaboration with CPA Canada and KPMG Canada, this non-credit online program is custom designed for Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA's) in industry who have five or more years of experience post-qualification as an analyst, manager, consultant, controller, director of finance, or in another similar role.

The program is comprised of five courses: Introduction to a Data Analytic Framework, Visual Storytelling with Data, Data Governance: Risk Strategy and Data Privacy, Business Intelligence, Automation and AI and Applied Accounting Analytics.

There is also an option to apply this program toward credit in a graduate certificate from SFU Beedie.
