The course provides students with an insight into Indigenous knowledge and worldviews, concepts of Indigenous wealth and value, and aspects of particular legal environments. Through relational comprehension with content, transformative approaches and innovative models and research you will gain a better understanding of how Indigenous protocols, decision making, and history impacts business and partnerships. Students will engage and apply their learning through the lens of entrepreneurship as one mechanism by which Indigenous notions of value are expressed in business environments.

Understand the basics of finance necessary for managerial decision-making. The course is divided into two blocks: short-term financing (operational finance) and long-term financing (corporate finance).

Explore the changing legal, ethical, and regulatory environments of business, focusing on the critical alignment between a modern organization and its broader public.

Familiarize yourself with the challenges, opportunities and salient issues in managing operations; and provide the language, concepts, insights and tools to deal with these issues in order to gain a competitive advantage through operations.

Taken alongside Indigenous Business Environments, this course provides local experiential learning opportunities designed to support students in gaining an understanding of how to build respectful partnerships with Indigenous community and to learn how businesses across industry sectors could work with Indigenous peoples to incorporate the legal and ethical considerations of Indigenous knowledge and worldviews within the current and future economic landscape.

Understand how businesses formulate and implement strategy, and what elements go into a good strategy. Analyze a firm’s mission and vision, undertake industry analysis, assess core competencies and comparative advantages and learn about different business models.

Understand Information Systems and Information Technology as strategic assets.

Learn how ideas from economics can help with managerial and strategic decision-making. Apply the concepts in specific business situations to help make tactical and strategic decisions.

In the Industry Consulting Project, you'll collaborate with leading companies, providing innovative solutions to their strategic business challenges. Through regular checkins, you'll engage with senior representatives to ensure project alignment. Upon completion, you'll compile a comprehensive report of your findings and present your solutions to the company's senior leadership.
