Undergraduates

Business Honours

Students who challenge themselves to maintain high academic standing have further opportunities to bolster their resumes and become more competitive in the job market. Exceed expectations by completing a Business Honours degree.

A Business Honours degree consists of 126 units (6 units more within a declared concentration area(s) than a traditional Business degree). For more details on the Business Administration Honours and Joint Honours programs, please refer to the SFU Calendar.

Business Administration Honours Program Checklist by Year

Program requirements for students admitted in Summer 2020 or earlier. Please refer to the SFU Calendar.

The following grade point averages (GPAs) must be maintained for entry into and graduation from any of the Honours degree programs:

  • minimum 3.33 cumulative grade point average (CGPA)
  • minimum 3.33 upper division CGPA
  • minimum 3.33 CGPA on all BUS and BUEC courses
  • minimum 3.33 CGPA on all upper-division BUS and BUEC courses

In addition to meeting the GPA requirements above, acceptance into the Honours program requires the completion of*:

  • all required lower-division courses (see Degree Planner Checklist)
  • 15 units of upper-division coursework in Business

Please note that application to the Honours program occurs one term before the actual admission term (e.g. if you are applying in Spring 2025, your admission to the Honours program would be for Summer 2025, and your program requirements would be those listed in the Summer 2025 SFU Calendar).

Please consult with an Academic Advisor to review the complete requirements of the program.

To apply to the business honours program, please email sfubeedie_undergrad@sfu.ca with your full name and student number. An advisor will be in touch within 3 - 5 business days.

One or more scholarships, valued at a minimum of $5,000 each, will be granted annually to undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:

  • are enrolled full-time in the term of eligibility;
  • are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in the Beedie School of Business and are declared in the Business Honours program; and
  • are in excellent academic standing.

The scholarship will be granted by the Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee.

I want to work for companies that don’t just make a profit, but try to make a positive impact in the world, and of course, are in fashion.

I'm working on starting EDGE SFU to support students who might not have the same opportunities as other students. The goal is to help to provide financial support, scholarships, and job postings. It’s a lot of work getting this club off the ground, but I enjoy helping other students.

A lot of students don’t follow a traditional path through university, and that’s ok.

The most important thing is to get involved. It’s up to you to make this as enriching as possible, and all you have to do is raise your hand to volunteer or participate in events and clubs.

Irene Chang

BBA Candidate

Finance

The flexibility SFU Beedie offers enabled me to combine my interests in my joint major in international business and economics, but also offered so much through experiential learning and opportunities to get involved. There is so much that the time passes very quickly, so it’s important to make the most of it while you can.

You will never know unless you try. There are always going to be opportunities to add value – it's just a matter of how you view it. Whether it is signing up for a case competition, or events and information sessions, or reaching out to senior students to ask them about their experiences, make the most of it and get involved.
