The McGill International Portfolio Challenge is the first international competition targeting innovative portfolio design and asset management. It is truly unique in its mandate to shift the focus of academic competitions to the buy-side and to provide students with more visibility on opportunities therein.
For the first time, we will bridge the gap between students with a demonstrated interest in asset management and industry leaders. Students will be required to adopt a fiduciary mentality in creating an innovative portfolio mix tailored to a complex institutional client profile. The analysis will include many factors present in the industry but rarely discussed in academic curriculums, pushing students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry standards. The factors include, but are not limited to, portfolio re-balancing, taxes, market impact, liquidity needs, and trading fees.
