Sree Kurup

President

Sree is a full-time MBA student at SFU Beedie School of Business. Consistently striving towards diversity and inclusion, Sree serves as the President of the Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) council. She was also the Fundraising Lead and member of the SFU team that won the BC MBA games 2022. Furthermore, she is also a member of the GSS Engagement committee.

Before becoming a full-time MBA student, Sree had 12 years of experience in the Information Technology industry as a Software engineer. In the later part of her professional career, she was focussed on product management, and she would like to continue in product management roles after her MBA. Sree has a wide perspective of international markets having worked with clients across the globe.

When not in school or at work, Sree enjoys reading and collecting books. Her all-time favourites are The Fountainhead and Kane & Abel. She is a proud owner of a huge collection of books. Sree is an avid foodie, a travel enthusiast and someone who loves exploring new places. She also enjoys spending her free time with friends.

AJ Conway

Vice President Operations

AJ is a full-time MBA candidate at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. He has five years of success within the financial management industry helping higher education institutions achieve financial success. AJ is skilled in uncovering opportunities to improve financial growth, risk management, and internal controls. He currently serves as the Vice President of Operations on the Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Student Council, participant of the BC MBA games and case competition program. He is looking forward to new opportunities in leadership, community engagement and process improvement upon completion of the MBA Program. AJ has recognized the importance of surrounding himself with people whose lived experiences differ from his own in order to expand his knowledge and understanding of the world around him. As such, AJ sees this particular student leadership role as a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the barriers that marginalized communities face as well as what he can do to help dismantle the structures embedded within our organizations that continue to oppress marginalized groups.

Outside of school and working AJ can be found spending time outdoors with his dogs. Moving to Vancouver he is looking to take advantage of any and all outdoor experiences. AJ also enjoys playing basketball, soccer and volleyball and is passionate about continuing to explore and travel to new places.

Shantanu Das

VP Events and Engagements

Shantanu is a full-time MBA student at SFU Beedie School of Business. Being passionate about diversity and inclusion, Shantanu is the VP of Events in the JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion) Council. Furthermore, he is also an active member of Case competitions and the SFU Beedie Ambassador Team. Born and raised in India, Shantanu has more than six years of experience in the technology sector. He is passionate about finding user problems, solving them, and is looking forward to opportunities in customer engagement, product management upon completion of the MBA Program. When not in school or at work, Shantanu enjoys reading nonfiction, anime, any story that lands in his hands. In addition, he loves travelling and hiking.

Shayan Parvez

VP Media and Communication

Shayan is a full-time MBA student and the Vice President of Media and Communication at the JEDI council. He participated in the Spirit Team of BC MBA Games 2022 and actively pursues extracurricular activities besides academics. He has four years of professional experience in marketing strategy and copywriting.

Innately passionate about uplifting underrepresented communities, Shayan believes that brands are the original influencers of the masses that can leverage their influence to make a meaningful impact on society.

After MBA, Shayan wants to blend his creative side with the analytical frame of mind and build socially conscious brands through actions grounded in compassion, humility, and inclusivity.
