Internal Transfer Students (Major Program)

Looking to change course and want to continue your SFU education with a degree in business? It’s never too late to pursue your passions. Your SFU Beedie story begins here.

This application is for you if you are:

  • currently in an SFU Faculty other than the Beedie School of Business.
  • seeking admission to the Business Major, Business Joint Major, or the Mechatronic Systems Engineering and Business Double Degree program.

To navigate the application process with confidence, we strongly encourage you to consult with an SFU Beedie advisor before starting your application.

Internal Transfer applicants are competitively selected for admission to the Business Major or Business Joint Major program by:

  • maintaining a competitive business admission average of 2.80 or better
  • remaining in good academic standing
  • completing all eight required courses for admission (minimum grade of C- required)
  • attaining a minimum SFU business course GPA of 2.30 by the end of the application term

A minimum of 5 out of the 8 courses must be completed, with the remaining 3 in progress, at the time you apply.

We have two admission pathways depending on your GPA:

GPA with Supplemental Application

We invite you to submit an online Supplemental Application if you have:

  • 2.80 to 3.29 Business Admission GPA on a minimum of 5 completed courses out of the 8 courses required for admission, with the remaining required courses in progress at the time of application

Use our GPA Calculator to calculate your Business Admission Average.

Students from these groups are competitively selected for admission based on a combination of academic performance and their Supplemental Application.

Should you decide not to complete the Supplemental Application, you will only be considered using the GPA-Only entry requirements.

Supplemental Application

The Supplemental Application brings to life your experiences and personality. It is your chance to share a complete picture of who you are and why an SFU Beedie education is right for you. Marks matter, but so do your experiences, achievements, and communication style.

There is a fee of $81.18 CAD to submit your application payable online at the time you submit your Supplemental Application.

Learn more about the Supplemental Application, how to prepare, and answers to common questions.

*IMPORTANT: Keep a record of your Supplemental Application invitation email as it will contain instructions on where, by when, and how to complete your application.

For direct admission into the Beedie School of Business using only your GPA, without submitting a Supplemental Application, you must achieve a 3.30 or higher Business Admission GPA on a minimum of 5 completed courses out of the 8 courses required for admission, with the remaining required courses in progress at the time of application.

Use our GPA Calculator to calculate your Business Admission Average.
