Simon Fraser University Professor Rosalie Tung has been voted as President-Elect of the Academy of International Business (AIB) Executive Board. She will serve a three-year term, to commence from August 2014, initially as President-Elect before progressing to President in 2015, and finally Past President from 2016.

As President, Tung will preside over all meetings of the AIB and the Executive Board, will appoint and instruct all committees, and will be responsible for the AIB’s strategic direction.

Tung is the Ming and Stella Wong Professor of International Business at SFU’s Beedie School of Business. She previously served a five-year term on the Executive Board of the Academy of Management, acting as Vice-President, President and Past President.

“I am thrilled to be recognized as President-Elect of the Academy of International Business by my peers and colleagues in international business from around the world,” says Tung. “Having previously served as President of the Academy of Management, it is a rare honour to have been recognized by one’s peers in two major academic institutions.”

In addition, she is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, the British Academy of Management, and the International Academy for Intercultural Research, and is a past recipient of the Vancouver YWCA Woman of the Year award in Management, the Professions and Trades.

The AIB is the leading association of scholars and specialists in the field of international business, with over 3,300 members from leading academic institutions across the globe, as well as consultants and researchers.

Tung’s election to the AIB Executive Board precedes the annual AIB Conference, which will be hosted this year in Vancouver by the Beedie School of Business. The conference is one of the world’s largest gatherings of scholars devoted to international business, and attracts over 1,000 attendees annually from universities around the world.
