For all you techies out there, TechBrew is an event you do not want to miss. It is known as “The Ultimate Tech Mega-Mixer” of Vancouver and very rightly so! It’s an opportunity to see some exceptionally creative start-ups, meet various professional leaders and people who truly care about technology. Along with other Beedie Ambassadors, I was able to see some very cool technology through live demos along with their inventors. Being a sports fan, I was very attracted to a start-up called Chirplocker that gamified being a sports fan. It’s a website that allows users to connect with other fans and form a virtual fan base. But wait, you get points too! As simple as it sounds, I’m surprised I never came across something like this before. An award winning company, Lungpacer, started by an SFU professor featured practical ways to keep patients alive while they’re on a ventilator.
I hadn’t even completely absorbed all this cool technology yet when I ran into a consulting company. Being the consulting junky that I am, it was like icing on a cake. All in all, TechBrew is an event I wouldn’t think twice about going to again. I would highly suggest you keep a lookout for this amazing event since it happens several times in a year. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a networking pro to be there. All you need is love and appreciation for the tech industry and you’ll fit right in.
