Whoa! Where has the time gone? JDC West 2013 is only 2 days away. 11 months ago, it was merely a distant weekend, and is now a reality. We have spent months upon months preparing and now it’s time to show what Team Beedie has up its sleeve.
As Captains, of what has become nothing short of an eventful year to date, Amit and I could not be prouder of our team thus far. Team Beedie took every little opportunity to push the limits and it is sure to pay-off. There is no doubt that every member of the team has put everything on the line. After 4 intensive Mock Competitions, in addition to months and months of training, we are ready to tear up the competition come this weekend.
We could not have gotten to where we are today without the hard work and support of our Head Coaches Sean Peters and Maney Grewal, the Student Engagement Office, the Dean’s Circle and KPMG. Certainly this list is not exhaustive, but we would also like to send a thank you to everyone that has been involved along the way as well. We don’t want to support to end here though; we still have a long way to go until Sunday night when School of the Year is announced. Show your support over the weekend and tweet #rocksteady #jdcwest. It will only push us harder to know what we have the support of our school behind us. If you’re interested, please visit the live video stream of the JDC West Gala.
We cannot wait for what is in store for the team this weekend, and we look forward to bringing back some hardware! I think I speak for both Amit and myself when I say that our team is living proof that SFU is always ready.
Only Friday, SFU’s 46 competing delegates, Amit and I, our Organizing Committee and Head Coaches will officially begin the battle for School of the Year. See you on the other side.
Simone is in the midst of her fourth year at the Beedie School of Business, concentrating in Operations Management and Human Resources. Her most notable experiences thus far include being a BASS FROSH Leader as well as participating in, and later Co-Captaining SFU JDC West. Simone’s involvement within Beedie has taught her much about herself and where her passions lie. She values the relationships she has made within the Beedie community and looks forward to her final year at SFU.
